Set up Campaign Monitor for Salesforce

You need Salesforce administrator access and a Campaign Monitor administrator account to install
Campaign Monitor for Salesforce. If you haven't already, check out our administrator getting started guide

Campaign Monitor for Salesforce supports the following Salesforce editions:

  • Professional
  • Enterprise
  • Performance
  • Unlimited

This help topic is based on the Spring '17 release of Salesforce, using the Salesforce Classic interface.

Install Campaign Monitor for Salesforce

To install Campaign Monitor for Salesforce:

  1. Visit Salesforce AppExchange and log in with your Salesforce account details.
  2. Search for Campaign Monitor for Salesforce. Hover your cursor over the Campaign Monitor for Salesforce result, then click More
  3. Get It Now button.
  4. Choose whether to Install in production or Install in sandbox
  5. Select "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions", then click Confirm and Install.
  6. Choose whether to install for "Admins Only", "All Users", or "Specific Profiles". (For "Specific Profiles", you also need to choose which profiles should have access.)
  7. Click Install
  8. Select Yes, grant access to these third-party web sites then click Continue

The app will likely take some time to install. Salesforce will email you when the installation is complete.

Connect to Campaign Monitor

After installing Campaign Monitor for Salesforce, follow the steps below to connect your Campaign Monitor account:

  1. In Salesforce, click the app menu at the top right, then select Campaign Monitor Admin
  2. Click the General Settings tab to start the connection wizard.
  3. Connect, then enter your Campaign Monitor login details and follow the on-screen prompts to access your account. Click Allow access when done.
  4. After the connection has completed, choose between syncing data immediately or disabling the sync temporarily.Why?Then click Next.
  5. Campaign Monitor for Salesforce objects Start Or, you can optionally skip this step and add them later.
  6. Click Finish The next page you see will be the "Subscriber Lists" page.

Disable the sync

If you have multiple clients in Campaign Monitor, the connection wizard selects the first client, based on alphabetical order, to sync with. It also syncs every subscriber list belonging to the client.

If you want to select a different client or tweak your settings before the first sync, you can choose to disable the sync during installation, then turn it back on when you've made your changes.

Set the sync frequency

When data is synced from Salesforce to Campaign Monitor, the sync occurs as soon as possible following an action; for example, editing a contact's name. For data synced the other way, from Campaign Monitor to Salesforce, you can specify the frequency. To do so:

  1. In Salesforce, click the app menu at the top right, then select Campaign Monitor Admin
  2. Click the Sync Settings tab.
  3. Below "Frequency", select how often you want to import data, either "Never", "Hourly", "Daily", "Weekly" or "Monthly". Click Save /li>
