Manage user access to Campaign Monitor for Salesforce

When installing Campaign Monitor for Salesforce, you are prompted to choose which Salesforce users will get access. Later, if necessary, you can grant access to additional individuals or profiles. You can also assign limited Campaign Monitor access to Salesforce users.

These instructions require Salesforce administrator access to complete, and are based on the Spring '17 release of Salesforce, using the Salesforce Classic interface

Grant access to individuals

To give permission to an individual user in your Salesforce Org:

  1. Near the top right of the screen, click Setup.
  2. On the left, in the "Quick Find" search box, type ;permission sets.
  3. Below Manage Users click Permission Sets
  4. To grant access to the "Campaign Monitor Admin" app, click Campaign Monitor - Full Access Otherwise, click Campaign Monitor - User Access for the standard "Campaign Monitor" app.
  5. Click Manage Assignments
  6. Click Add Assignments
  7. Select the checkbox next to the usernames you want to have access, then click Assign.

Access to the "Campaign Monitor Admin" app gives the user full access to the;admin console.

Grant access to Salesforce user profiles

To grant access to Campaign Monitor for Salesforce at the profile level:

  1. In Salesforce, click Setup near the top right of the screen.
  2. On the left in the "Quick Find" search box typeapps.
  3. Below "Create", click Apps.
  4. Next to "Campaign Monitor", click Edit.
  5. Next to the relevant profile, select then Visible checkbox, then click Save.
  6. Optional: Repeat the process, except for the Campaign Monitor Admin app.

Assign a non-admin Campaign Monitor account to Salesforce users

If you connect a Campaign Monitor administrator account to Salesforce, by default all Salesforce users given access to Campaign Monitor for Salesforce will also access that account.

To restrict access to certain features in Campaign Monitor, you can assign a non-admin Campaign Monitor account to a Salesforce user.

First, you will need to add the "Campaign Monitor User" field to the Salesforce user page layout. This only needs to be done once:

  1. In Salesforce, click Setup near the top right of the screen.
  2. On the left in the "Quick Find" search box type manage users.
  3. Below "Manage Users", click Users
  4. Select a Salesforce user.
  5. Near the top right, click Edit Layout.
  6. Drag and drop the Campaign Monitor User field into your layout, then click Save.

After the Salesforce user page layout has been modified:

  1. Select the Salesforce user you want to limit access to Campaign Monitor for, then click Edit.
  2. Next to "Campaign Monitor User", enter a Campaign Monitor non-admin account email address.
  3. Click Save.
